Liberal Democrats push for electoral reform in King's Speech

23 Jul 2024

Liberal Democrats’ determination to campaign for electoral reform has been underscored by our MPs’ amendment to the King’s Speech, published today.

In it, Ed and his team make a specific call for proportional representation

[the government is called] to reform the system for parliamentary elections by replacing first-past-the-post with proportional representation, so that every vote counts.

Liberal Democrat amendment for the King's Speech

This is a great statement of our vision for fixing our politics and follows up Ed Davey’s speech in the House last week.

It’s early days in the new parliament but this decisively sets the tone for the future.

At LDER, we’ll be supporting our Parliamentary team, supporting and working with local activists up and down the country.
