Draft Electoral Representation Bill

In the months before the 2024 General Election was unexpectedly called, the prospect of a hung parliament appeared to be a possible if improbable outcome. In case of such an event occurring, LDER prepared a briefing for the Liberal Democrats leadership to use in any subsequent negotations between parties.

Following the election the Labour Party, under the UK's First-Past-the-Post electoral system, secured a large parliamentary majority (albeit on a much smaller percentage of the vote): the notion of any negotiations became a moot point.

However, we present the draft legislation bill here as an example of the type of work we are doing to push for electoral reform.
